OSHA Hearing Conservation Standard 1910.95
Key Requirements:
Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL):
90 dB(A) over an 8-hour shift.
Hearing Conservation Program:
Required when workers are exposed to 85 dB(A) or more over an 8-hour shift.
Noise Monitoring:
Employers must measure noise levels and provide annual audiometric testing.
Hearing Protection:
Employers must offer hearing protection (earplugs, earmuffs, etc.) to workers exposed to hazardous noise levels.
Employee Training:
Annual training on noise hazards, hearing protection, and how to properly use hearing protection.
Recordkeeping:
Maintain noise exposure records and audiometric test results for the required period.
